Jungle Crazy

Over the weekend...

On Friday I got off work at noon and it was so nice! It ended up feeling like a Saturday. Gallie and I ate lunch and then went to a toy store I heard about in the basement of a local outdoors shop... I guess it's been there forever. It was hug and we were there for a really long time! Gal was spoiled and got a new Calico Critters family - the yellow lab family. She played with them all weekend long, so it was worth it :) Caleb left that afternoon for a weekend long "team building" trip to Whistler with his work... snowboarding, drinking wine, eating good food... he has a really bad job if you couldn't tell :) I actually ended up making Gal and I a really good dinner, then we went for our evening walk. Gallie can walk the entire loop around our neighborhood now, which is really great exercise for her.

Notice the bangs!!! I cut them myself this time... not perfect, but I think they look cute and it saved me 10 bucks!

On Saturday Libby and I surprised the girls with a trip to this jungle funzone playland place. It was insane! Kids are so crazy! Gallie is so mellow compared to 99% of them! But the two girls really had a lot of fun. I swear they grease the slides there - Libby and Lily went down a tunnel slide and shot out so fast that Lily went flying to the right and Libby nearly broker her tailbone! (I will post a couple pictures soon) After the crazy jungle, we went to the park for a picnic lunch. My grandma and aunt are in town from Hermiston, so we went to my mom's for a fish and chip dinner - it was SO GOOD! Complete with cold slaw, asparagus, and special sauce - it really was the best and freshest tasting meal I've had in months! Gal and I ended up staying the night at Libby's for a sleepover. Sunday was very relaxing - the rain was back, but we didn't mind.

A few random things:

When Caleb was in NY the last time, he was working on a commercial for Vital Choice. He came home the other day with a bunch of stuff. We had the cioppino with cod and salmon last night and it was really good.

We've been making a lot of juice lately and I've been making muffins out of the leftover pulp. I don't mean to brag... but they are really good!

Caleb's company was up for a TV/Media award for best PSA (public service announcement) and they won first place - Congrats HCF!

Ok, that's all.

Congratulations Caleb!!!

Caleb's movie, "Do you see colors when you close your eyes?" is an official selection at Seattle International Film Festival! It is a huge festival so we are all really excited!

Cute Story

Yesterday one of Caleb and Callie's errands was to go to the bank. Before she left she ran into the kitchen and was so excited. She told me that if I give her my credit card she will put it into a big machine and push some buttons. Then she will get my credit card back and the machine will give her free money. Then she said she was going to buy me something with it :)

Over the weekend...

On Saturday Caleb was in Seattle golfing (yawn!) with his brothers, so Gallie and I had a girls day! We had strawberry oatmeal for breakfast, played a TON, she helped me clean the house, we walked to the park and played soccer, went to the library, made a very delish dinner, and went for an evening walk. The walk was the BEST part of the day - walking after dinner is one of my favorite things ever. It just makes the day end so peacefully.

On Sunday we had pumpkin pancakes for breakfast. After that Caleb took Gallie out to run a few errands while I did some more cleaning.

We went to my mom's house for a late St. Patrick's dinner - corned beef and cabbage - So, so delicious! Lily and Callie spend the night for a sleepover (sleepover meaning treats, popcorn, and movies!) so Caleb and I went to the casino! Kind of funny... I always talk about going but we rarely do. A couple years ago we went and I won $400 and always feel like I'm going to win again. We've went back a couple times and haven't won a thing! It makes me so mad that I swear we'll never go again. But about six months later, I kinda want to go again. Tonight was one of those nights. No winnings = I hate casinos!

Even with the loss of my lunch money this week (only $20, but still!!!), it was a really great weekend. We had sunshine and I got to spend it outside with Gallie!

Parenting Tip

When Callie was little it was always a struggle to get dinner ready without her crying and trying to climb up my leg the entire time. I discovered a little trick to hold her attention for 30 minutes so I could actually prepare a decent meal: A bowl of rice. I've been doing this since before she was one (she has never been one to put anything in her mouth so that wasn't a worry). And it still works now on days she is a little cranky around dinner time. She pretends it is a sandbox or the beach for her little toys and I can hardly pull her away from it when dinner is on the table. One suggestion though is to do it IN the kitchen cause it can get a little messy!

In other developments, Gallie has added a new veggie to her approval list: Asparagus! She doesn't really like many cooked veggies so I just blanched these so they were still crunchy, but not completely raw. She ate it with ranch, of course, but whatever it takes!

4 Year Check

Weight: 34.5 lbs. (40th percentile)
Height: 40.25 in. (50th percentile)
Vision test: PASS
Hearing test: PASS

No shots! She actually has 4 immunizations she will need between the ages of 4 and 6, but we decided to wait until she's 5. We had an overall good experience at the doctor's yesterday (first time ever!) and I didn't want to ruin it.

She still has to go in for a ultrasound on her kidneys and bladder this week. Hopefully all will be ok with that. Otherwise she is a very healthy girl!

Over the weekend...

It was so rainy and cold this weekend. So on Saturday we went bowling. It was really fun... but really expensive! I was thinking it would be like $10 (remember I'm from Hermiston, Oregon). Oh well, Gallie really had a good time. We did bumper bowling and she actually got a strike on one of her turns! The balls are too heavy for her too lift so she just rolled it... slowly, but surely!!!

And I got one too!!!

And so did he... thanks to the bumpers!

On Sunday we went to church and then Libby treated us to brunch. We were suppose to watch Cinderella II on Saturday night, but it wouldn't play. So when we got home we tried it on Gal's little player - and it worked! The rest of the afternoon we did some chores, played, and COLORED, A LOT!

Tomorrow is Gallie's 4-year-old check... there may be shots involved :(

All around town...

First stop: Construction site. Got tired from all the back-breaking labor, so decided to build a bed of bricks for a rest.

Hopped on a plane to beat traffic out of town to the farm. "Can somebody get me some more peanuts!!!"

Milked some cows, gathered eggs, fed some pigs, and herded cattle.

Wanted to break for a home cooked lunch, but duty calls!!!

Afternoon began with a trip to the ferry terminal to make sure the waterways were in tact.

Got a bit drenched, so had to quickly dry off in time for the big show! On stage was Taylor Swift and Kai Lan - the performance of a lifetime!

The night ended with a quick stop at the animal shelter to free the caged deer.

Just a typical day in the life of two little girls :)

Molly's Wishlist

This is my first guest post! Molly gave me the short version of her wishlist for spring - the original was like 20 items long! Now that's just greedy! haha.... I'll have to admit, though, it is a good list... with a couple exceptions :) So here it is:

Racks full of vintage clothes.

To host a beautiful outdoor dinner party.

This living room.

A dog.

Lots and lots of old books (not to read, of course... to decorate with!)

This fanny pack, because they are definitely coming back!

A sleepover with my two favorite girls.

This bathroom.

This kitchen.

See what I mean - she practically wants a whole house! That being said, I would take a house that looks like that too :)
Thanks Meast!
