Over the weekend...

Not much to report.  Callie was sick with a cold the entire weekend.  The only time we left the house Saturday was to get a cherry limeade for her throat :)  Sunday was an all day pajama day.  Caleb left early for Washington DC, so Gallie and I laid around and colored, did puzzles, read, and played with anything that could be transported to the couch.  We had a shrimp, cauliflower, and beet stir fry for dinner, along with homemade biscuits just for the sickies!

And since I didn't touch my camera this weekend, I leave you with a funny picture Callie's friend took of Caleb with her parent's iPad (that Caleb was drooling over because I refuse to buy one!).  Enjoy!

2011 Blog Book

The other day I received my new blog book - all of my posts from 2011.  It was twice as big as the one last year (I started the blog mid-2010).  It's really fun to look back at all of the things that happened and how much Callie has grown.  I'm going to try really hard to keep it up as long as I can!

Over the weekend...

As previously mentioned, Gallie and Lily had a sleepover at our house Friday night.  They were both asleep by 8:30 so Caleb and I finished up the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy - that show is honestly way too violent for me, but the story line is pretty intense and addicting!

Saturday morning we decided to take the girls out for a bit - we went to lunch at Fiamma Burger (Caleb and I shared a veggie burger and the girls shared a hot dog) and then we took them to the B'ham Children's Museum.  The girls did have a lot of fun, but I have to say it's so not worth the price.  We went there once like 2 years ago and 99 percent of the exhibits were the same - plus, you can go to the Seattle one for the same cost, and it's way better!  Ok, enough complaining :)

On Sunday we went to church and then had donuts afterwards with my Mom, Libby, Meast, Lily, and Luca (shown below giving Gallie a kiss!).  The rest of the afternoon we cleaned our house to get ready to start showing it.  Then Caleb's grandpa came up and took us out to dinner at Anthony's* - not too shabby of a day :)

Speaking of Anthony's... there kid's menu, although delicious to me, has nothing on it Gallie will touch.  Actually I am pretty disappointed in the kid's menus at every restaurant we go to.  Who wants to feed their kids a huge bowl of mac & cheese with nothing else?  I wouldn't even serve this at home not to mention pay $6.95 for it!  Plus Gallie doesn't care for most things on kid's menus - she doesn't like french fries or greasy things like that (although she will eat a hot dog for breakfast, lunch, & dinner :)).  So I've started ordering anything I see on the menu and ask them to serve it in a kid's meal portion.  For example, tonight I ordered sauteed Oregon bay shrimp, plain pasta, and their fresh vegetable (they gave me a choice of green beans or zucchini - Gallie chose zucchini).  So far I've had no problems with this plus Gallie and I are both happy with what she's eating!

Sleepover... Part II

Couldn't resist posting this! They're just too cute!!!!!!!

Sleepover

These two girls are relaxing after a fun afternoon of playing... Watching Tinkerbell and eating our version of an ice cream sundae - banana slices with sprinkles :)

A couple things...

Gallie had not 1, but 2 babysitters yesterday - Quinn (15) and her sister Phoebe (10).  She was pretty wound up when I got home - the girls dressed her up, painted her nails, and gave her a ton of attention all day - she was on cloud nine!  It was pretty cold out, but they went out long enough to make this cute little snowman!

This was taken going over the pass on Saturday.  It was fine that day, but we did have to put the chains on coming home - it was a long night!  I think the trees look really pretty though.

Gallie all dressed up in the dress she got from Grandma D'j for Christmas.  She loves that dress and has wore it like 5 times already!

Gallie's fish tail braid - I've had a lot of friends ask me how to do it... it's super easy so I think I might do a tutorial soon?

The twins.  Josh flew in from Chicago for the funeral so they got to spend a little time together.

That's all for now!

I'm dreaming of a white birthday!

Happy Birthday Libby!!!  Sorry it's a day late - I've been off my blogging A-game in 2012!

Hope you're sporting that Ruby Red today!!!

Over the weekend...

We went to Richland Saturday morning for Caleb's grandma's memorial. It was a very nice ceremony and his mom did a great job putting it all together so quickly. It's now Sunday evening and we are heading for the pass... Hope it's not too bad but we have our chains if we need them!

Out like a light.

I've been very tired this past week... The other night I laid beside Callie for a minute and Caleb caught me fast asleep minutes later :)  I'm surprised there was room with all of the stuffed animals she puts on her bed every night!

Change of plans...

We originally were going to build a single level house similar to one we had seen by the same builder... I found the picture below (on Pinterest, of course!) to show him an example of the wood shake siding we wanted - to give it a beachy feel - and he suggested just modeling our house after the picture.  We love the house in the picture and actually preferred a two-story so we are very excited.  With exception of the shudders, our house should look pretty close - even down to the ocean  blue door :)  (The front will have the shake siding but the rest of the house won't... we just can't afford it, but the builder still thinks it will look great.)

Our favorite part is that the deck on the upper level will have an unobstructed view of the ocean.

Our dream in the future is to have this cute little guest quarters in the back of the house :)

Over the weekend (and some photos)...

We didn't do a whole heck of a lot!  I didn't feel well Sunday and actually took a little nap midday, which I never do!

Saturday night we did go over to our friends the Harrell's for a delish dinner - Julie is a really good cook and hostess.  Plus they have three girls that Callie loves playing with!

And speaking of Julie, she is also a very talented photographer.  She snapped a few photos of us later in the fall and I'm just finally getting around to sharing them.  You can see her work on her website:  julieharrell.com.  I have always been impressed with her and am so happy to have some wonderful pictures of Callie!  And speaking of Callie... she cried for about 99 percent of the time we were outside!  It was freezing out and I did make her wear a summer dress... so I guess it wasn't completely unjustified :)

A couple random things...

Caleb's baby blanket - Gallie's new favorite "cuddle blank."

Homemade biscuits - Gallie's all time favorite food in the whole entire world... with butter, of course :)

We have fun dinner plans tomorrow night but otherwise plan to have a very relaxing weekend!

Betty Cable

Caleb's grandma Betty passed away yesterday.  She suffered a stroke over the summer and never really recovered.  She was 88 years old.

Caleb went to Richland to see her again last weekend with his mom as the doctor said she didn't have much time left.  We are very thankful we took the time to visit her in the fall.  Callie had only met them one time before but was too little to remember - so I think that trip was really important.  We will all travel over there again next week for the memorial.

Our beach house.

This is where our new house is going to be!  We are actually moving to Birch Bay (a little beach town 20 min. north of Bellingham).  At first we didn't really consider this area because of the drive... but, the more we thought about living close to the beach and in a more peaceful area we loved it.  We are only about a 5 minute walk from the beach and a state park - you can see the water from our property if you squint, stand on your toes, and look really hard through the trees :)  We both work in town and will have to drive in everyday anyway so we will still send Gallie to the same school.  We hope to move by the end of April!

I really won't talk about every little update on the house, but I will try to post progress about once a month :)
