Over the weekend...

Molly kindly called in sick to work on Friday because we needed her to watch Callie. Thanks to everyone who has been helping out with babysitting during the school/summer transition - Molly, my mom, Libby, and Grandma D'j! Anyway, Molly is a very good seamstress and Gallie wants to learn to sew, so they had their first lesson. Molly brought her sewing machine over and Gallie picked out the fabrics and sat on her lap to do the sewing. They made this dress for Rapunzel Taylor Swift - she's pretty stylish! From what I hear, and saw, Gallie was very spoiled that day :)


On Friday night there was a dance party... I recently burned Gallie a copy of the Tangled Soundrack and this is her perfoming the "I have a dream" song. She really gets into it :) I made one for Lily too and I hear she can't get enough of it either. I've had that darned song in my head for 48 hours and it won't stop!!!


On Saturday morning we did some errands and walked around the farmer's market for a bit. Also made a stop by Great Harvest (yum!). Gallie had $5 of her own money and spent it on these two little guys. A baby artic fox named flower and a baby cheetah named Callie :)

The rest of the afternoon was spend cleaning out our storage closet :( It was actually kind of fun - Gallie got to see some of our old things, including some of our wedding stuff.


I gave her the headpiece I wore... she loves it. I also gave her the bouquet and veil from my wedding shower to play pretend wedding (see me above - haha).

On Sunday morning I actually got to sleep in! Gallie slept in until 8:30 and I couldn't believe it! Caleb was up pretty early though - he had to go to Seattle for the SIFF awards banquet at the Space Needle. Gallie and I visited and had lunch with our new nanny who will watch her a couple days a week - we really like her and Gallie's excited. We went up to my mom's for a BBQ rib feast in the evening. And the house is clean so we get to watch a movie tonight! Boy I can't wait until my 3 days a week schedule starts - these weekends are WAY too short!

Park Fun

We have a new park very close to our house, so we walked there last night and played for a little bit. Gallie and I discovered it on a bike ride the other day and she really wanted to show Caleb. The double slide was called the "date slide," so Caleb took turns taking us on dates :)

Play Date

Today was my first Wednesday off of the summer! Callie had a play date with two of her friends from school, Emmy and Ben. She was very shy at first, but by the end of it all three of them were running around and tearing the house apart! We will be hosting in 2 weeks... better prepare!
In other VERY EXCITING news... Libby is having a BOY!!! I guess it's time to start shopping... or else that little boy will be dressed in girly jammies and playing with Polly Pockets :) I have a couple ideas for shower gifts, but Gallie, of course, wants to get the baby "boy toys."

One more thing - last summer we made a list of things we wanted to do during the summer on the bathtub wall with bath crayons. We decided to do the same thing again this summer, so last night we created our summer fun list! I couldn't get a decent picture int he bathroom, so here is our list:

-see real dinosaur bones (#1 on her list... not sure if we'll be able to pull this one off)
-pick berries
-go swimming
-horse back riding
-ballet camp
-go to big park in Lynden
-children's museum
-fly a kite
-the fair
-stay up really late and eat treats!
-play date (done)
-bowling
-walk from Boulevard Park to Fairhaven for Katie's Cupcakes
-to to Red Robin Hood (done)
-see Cars 2
-family bike ride (done)
-sleepover with Lily
-practice for 5 year old soccer
-go to the library (done)
-camping (real camping)

Last year we did everything on our list, so we'll see what happens this summer!!! If I remember I will repost this in a couple months with our progress :)

Over the weekend...

On Saturday we went to Birch Bay (where my mom & dad live) for a picnic on the beach. We finally had an entire weekend of 70 degree weather!



On Sunday we met out friends at their camp site to "day camp." That's definitely my idea of camping: fun day in the woods, and a cozy night in my bed! The girls always have a fun time when they get together :)

SIFF

Last night we attended the SIFF world premier of Caleb's movie. It was really fun, but I'm very tired today! There was a great turnout... look at the line down the block to get in!

So far there has been a very good repsonse to the movie. Caleb has been contacted by a number of larger festivals to submit the film... including Athens International Film Festival! A free trip to Greece? Yes, please!

Huge News!!!

After years of pleading and begging, my job has finally agreed to let me move to a part time schedule! I will continue to work 4 days a week (36 hours) during the summer, but in Septemeber I will move to 3 days a week (27 hours). And I'll be able to keep my 4 weeks/year vacation! My job will change a bit, moving from a financial accountant to a treasury accountant.

I've worked full time since Callie was 3 months old, so I can't wait to be able to spend more time with her before she starts school full time. In the fall she will go to PreK4, which is 3 mornings a week.
